SURVEYOR

Job Description

Ayoroa Simmons implements leading edge technology and processes within the AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations) industry. We help architects, engineers, contractors and owners leverage precision surveys and 3D positional data to develop accurate and comprehensive building and site models. The successful candidate will take part in the collection and processing  of terrestrial LiDAR data, drone based photogrammetry and other survey data. Typical assignments will include local and interstate travel to project sites to collect survey-grade 3D measurements of buildings, sites and campuses. Typical projects include ALTA, boundary, planimetric and topographic surveys as well as mechanical rooms, sports complexes, hospitals, industrial process facilities, multifamily properties, mid-rise residential buildings, distribution facilities and others. We offer relocation assistance for candidates interested in moving to the Lexington, KY metro area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the BIM and VDC realm in order to support the company’s activities as they pertain to providing leading edge BIM and VDC solutions to it’s clients

  • Using a variety of 3D survey instruments, collect accurate measurements of various vertical and horizontal infrastructure

  • Understand and adhere to industry standards for 3D scanning, drone-based photogrammetry, planimetric and topographic surveys

  • In collaboration with the surveyor, develop and coordinate all aspects of the data collection approach 

  • Coordinate site access and schedule with client point of contact

  • Develop and maintain notes, diagrams and sketches of field and office work

  • Post process 3D field data using a variety of software tools including Leica Cyclone, Leica Cyclone Register 360, Trimble Realworks, NavVis VLX processing software

  • Establish and maintain notes and other documentation of ongoing and proposed research as it relates to BIM/VDC in order to support the company’s business goals and technical capacity

  • Maintain project schedule

  • Travel as required

  • Others as assigned
     

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree or equivalent in engineering or survey related field

  • Minimum 5 years experience as crew chief or similar surveyor role

  • Proficiency in the use of precision surveying instruments such as robotic total stations, digital levels, GPS/GNSS equipment, etc.

  • Proficiency in the use of field and office software used in post processing survey data

  • Ability to develop, implement and adhere to control network designs

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and related information

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team and in support of other team members

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Well developed problem solving and analytical skills

 

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to walk or stand for several hours

  • Ability to traverse various outdoor terrain and climb stairs and fixed ladders

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a variety of environmental conditions that are weather and non-weather related

  • Ability to qualify for security clearances is required
